We were completely reliant on Checkatrade to find us a reliable contractor for our renovation project. We joined and advertised our project details, but unfortunately, we were left in the lurch.

It all starts with their sneaky charges, which they hide in the fine print. Then, there's the terrible helpline that's about as incompetent as a chocolate teapot. You can try to get your money back, but it's like chasing ghosts.

Is Checkatrade a Scam?

We thought we were doing the right move by using Checkatrade to find a reputable plumber/electrician/contractor. After all, they seemed so legitimate with their vetted traders. Boy, were we wrong! Our experience was nothing short of a disaster.

First, the communication from the "qualified" trader was lackluster/awful/terrible. He was unprofessional/rude/disrespectful and gave us a quote that was outrageous/ridiculous/way too high. We tried to discuss the issues, but he was adamant/unwilling/stubborn to compromise/negotiate/change.

In the end, we ended up having to hire someone else by this so-called "vetted" trader. Checkatrade's helpline was equally useless/incompetent/unhelpful. They offered us a pathetic excuse/blamed the trader/did nothing.

We're left feeling frustrated and warn everyone against using them for your tradesman needs.

My rundown with Checkatrade was a complete shambles. I booked a trader through their website to complete some vital home repairs. They looked trustworthy at first, but it turned out a terrible ordeal.
